Internet Lebanon Stats

Ipsos MENA released lately interesting statistics about the internet usage and consumption habits in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The numbers were presented at the ArabNet Beirut Conference 2013 by the regional president Elie Aoun. I gathered the most important numbers concerning Lebanon in an Infographic that you will find below.

  1. Interesting to see such data few weeks/months before Paypal arrives.
Similar data a while after Paypal arrives will show what effects it had on Lebanon’s online payments.

As for the social networks numbers, it isn’t surprising to see Facebook with the highest percentage, and twitter the lowest, at least in the time being. But I’m curious about what other social networks are being used in Lebanon.
There are many of social networks available, but having a percentage almost as equal as Facebook, the “Others” social networks deserved to be split. At least the social networks with the highest percentages among the “Other” social networks could have been named.

    • Indeed it would be interesting to see if the arrival of PayPal will help in changing the behavior of Lebanese people when it comes to online shopping or if it will only enhance the experience of those who trust the process.

Concerning social networks, I totally agree: I would have loved to know what are the other social networks used in the country and to what extent but unfortunately the data made available by Ipsos MENA does not include any other platform than Facebook and Twitter.
