The city of New York decided to use a new redesigned version of the handicapped icon that was created by a group of students from Gordon College (Massachusetts). Activists criticized the traditional icon as showing a passive and helpless image of handicapped persons and the new icon is here to make it more dynamic and forward-leaning.
